DanceU: Shamanic Movement Experience
We begin with a grounding Shamanic ritual and move into a container full of music, sprinkled with invitations to awaken and evolve through your own organic movements. Combines Nia Technique Free Dance and Shamanic Breathwork to bring you something new.
What is a Nia class like?
Nia is a conditioning program for body, mind, emotion, and spirit. A typical Nia class is one hour. Nia is done with bare feet; wear clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily.
Each class starts with a focus, (what you’ll put your attention on) and gentle warm-up movements. From there, we get moving and transition into a more cardiovascular section. We cool-down with playful movements and stretches.
Each teacher demonstrates levels that honor a light, moderate, or more intense workout for each individual. Beginners start at any time.
How Does Nia Work?
Nia is a movement class which draws from disciplines of the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Every class offers a unique combination of moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities.
Stiff beginners and highly fit athletes alike can adapt Nia to meet their needs by choosing from three intensity levels.
What is the Nia Technique?
Nia is a sensory-based lifestyle practice. We invite people to become "Sensation Scientists" and step into a joyful journey with Nia to positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live!
"Elizabeth always brings such energy and enthusiasm to all her classes. Her commitment to Nia is contagious and you just want to dance and move with her. DanceU is an organic movement form that I started as Sacred Nia at Studio 206 in Charlottesville in 2012. In my first classes, we began by journeying to connect to various Egyptian Neteru, and moved through meditations provided in the book "Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt"
It has evolved into a monthly platform with a focus that I divine prior to the monthly event by intuitive interpretations. Ingredients are gleaned from upcoming astrological patterns and other sources. The decided upon title supports in creating the playlist as well as Shamanic Breathwork (TM) music layering technique. At the event, we set a sacred container with combinations of meditation, guided visualization, invocation, drumming/rattling, chanting, singing. We then we begin to move, guided by all of the tools that I tap into regularly, such as divination, and regular journeys with spirit guides in my own life practice.
